It's hard to believe that it's already Thursday - I had originally intended to post daily about my move away from the analog cigarette and into the digital nicotine realm. As a quick recap: I got ripped off on a new PV at a mall kiosk last Saturday. After getting home, charging it, etc., my first full day of use was Sunday, at which point I decided it was gonna be a go on the analog to digital conversion. By Monday, all the stuff that I had been reading on the internet about the e-cigarette and vaping made sense, at which point I realized that the model I got at the mall was probably not the right one for me. So I went ahead and ordered another setup (at significantly less cost than the mall version), as well as a few bottles of e-juice (the liquid contaning the nicotine which gets vaporized in the e-cig) in different flavors. That was sooo the right thing to do.

I have been smoking for 26 years, and I have been around smokers for all of my 41 years. Knowing what we know now about second hand smoke and nicotine addiction, I probably should have been considered a smoker starting from the day I was born. And the fact is that I like smoking. I only have a couple of reasons that I want to give it up which is that it bothers my son and my boyfriend, and that it is no longer socially acceptable, which makes it a pain in the ass to do common things like go to your office, a movie, the mall, and absolute hell to travel by airplane. I have been self-restricting myself from smoking in my home and my car, and I do really love that I no longer have all that sticky stuff, dirty ash, and cigarette burns all over my stuff. Apparently, the house started to smell a bit better too, though I'll rely on Perfect Tommy's call on that since being a smoker, I can't smell it. Of course, that also means that I spend a lot of time being miserable either because I'm cold and/or wet, or because I'm having a nic fit.

So for a while now, I have been hearing about electronic cigarettes as an alternative to smoking real cigarettes. I've heard commercials on the radio offering free trials (which are mostly subscription scams as far as I know), and I've picked up flyers and business cards that I have been carrying around in my wallet. I've also done some internet searching that basically left me confused.
If you've never heard of the e-cigarette before, let me give you some background information. The basic premise is that an electronic cigarette consists of a cartridge containing fiberous material that holds a glycol solution (a common food additive) mixed with a flavor (anything from tobacco to Dr. Pepper) and may or may not also contain a percentage of nicotine. An attached battery powered atomizer heats up the liquid solution, basically turning it into steam which the user inhales.
